Aim: This research was conducted to determine the relationship between nursing students' communication skills and their level of perceived incivility in nursing education.
Method: The population of this descriptive and correlational study consisted of 351 nursing students in their second, third, and fourth years actively enrolled in a health sciences faculty at a university during the 2023-2024 academic year, while the sample comprised 237 nursing students who agreed to participate. Research data were collected between March and April 2024 using a "Personal Information Form," a "Communication Skills Assessment Scale," and a "Disrespect in Nursing Education Scale." Data were analyzed using SPSS v22 software and evaluated at a p<0.05 confidence interval.
Results: The average age of nursing students participating in the research is 21.02±1.30 years. The mean score of the Communication Skills Evaluation Scale of the study participants was 73.32±11.31, and the mean score of the Incivility Scale in Nursing Education was 1.74±0.48. It was determined that there was a statistically significant, positive, and low-level relationship between the mean scores of the Students' Communication Skills Evaluation Scale and the Incivility Scale in Nursing Education (p<0.05).
Conclusions: It was concluded that the communication skills of the students were above average, the perception of incivility in nursing education was low, and there was a relationship between communication skills and perception of incivility.
